Strategy
Tide of Nations
★★★★☆ 4.2
Tide of Nations is a strategy game that trusts you to plan. You oversee a cluster of islands, balance resources, set up trade, and defend against the occasional raid. There's no energy timer poking you every hour, which already puts it ahead of most mobile strategy fare.
The map reads clearly even on a small screen, and the tutorial is mercifully short. I liked that early decisions ripple outward — build the wrong economy and you'll feel it ten turns later. It rewards patience more than speed.
It's not flashy, and the late game can drag if you snowball too hard. But for a quiet evening of planning, it scratches a very specific itch.
What we liked
- No annoying energy or wait timers
- Decisions carry real long-term weight
- Readable map that works on small screens
