Big Bass Splash

★★★★☆ 4.4 Editor rating

Big Bass Splash is one of those games that looks simple on the surface and then quietly eats an afternoon. You tap to cast, watch the water for movement, and pull back at the right moment to hook a fish. The controls are basically two gestures, which sounds boring until you're white-knuckling a tug-of-war with something large lurking under the surface.

What surprised me is how much personality the presentation has. The water animation is chunky and cheerful, the sound effects land with a satisfying splash, and each catch gives you a little jolt of accomplishment. There's a gentle progression where you unlock new spots and gear, and the pacing never nags you to rush. I played it in short bursts waiting for the kettle and kept coming back.

It won't challenge your reflexes the way an action game would, and that's fine — it's comfort food. If you want something relaxed with just enough tension to keep you alert, this one earns its spot on the home screen.
